Day 6: Walking Tour of Kuching

Today we got up early and went for a walking tour around the city. We saw so many amazing sights! It was really hot and muggy, but we stayed hydrated and had a great tour. Walking is my favorite way to see a new city!

Some of the highlights of our tour include:
Walking along the river
Visiting Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple, where worshipers burn paper money and other items made of paper, believing that it will go to their ancestors to use in the afterlife.
The Natural History Museum, where we learned that Malaysia is home to over 168 varieties of snakes. Also, the furniture pictured was brought over from England in the 1800s.
Visiting a mosque, and seeing its unique graveyard
Trying iced Kachang Chendol and Rojak fruit salad. The Rojak was my favorite, with pineapple, cucumber, tofu, and jicama served with a peanut sauce dressing.

We also had noodles called Laksa in China town, and a tea drink. The tea drink tasted a lot like Thai iced tea, but it had a thin layer at the bottom of the drink of some sort of sweetener that tasted like molasses.
